From the sea and the tropics

Salobreña guardia
La Caleta - La Guardia
Seafood and tropical fruit are the main ingredients of Salobreña's cuisine and that of its adjoining villages, Lobres and La Caleta- Guardia. The local specialities include espetos de sardina (skewered sardines), salted fish, and the traditional fried fish.

The area's festive calendar is full of religius events such as the Fiestas of La Candelaria and San Antonio celebrated in Lobres, the Easter Week celebrations, when a procession of women accompany the effigy of the Virgen of La Soledad, the Day of the Cross, the Fiestas dedicated to the Virgen of El Carmen, whose effigy is taken out on boats by the fishermen in La Caleta, and the pilgrimage in honour of the Virgen of El Rosario.

There are also cultural events such as the New Tendencies and Lucero del Alba festivals.
